About the Guild
So behind all great guilds is a story. This one’s extra specially good. It’s about a group of real life friends who went to college together and decided to play a video game. Those real life friends were the original Venture Brothers and they were Danthor, Denthor, Darethor, and Eday. Don’t get me wrong, there was Mikethor too, Hoss the turtle tank, and many more we just met in game in the starting Team Venture guild.
That was all back in vanilla wow as it’s known, back before achievements, when selling a red whelping made you rolling in gold at 250 buyout on the AH, when you could run dungeons and your tank was the hunter’s pet and the healer was the hunter.
Flash forward. The guild that remained were only people who knew someone in real life. These friends have successfully done what Blizzard wanted them to do– sucked more people into the game. Add a girlfriend, more roomies, co-workers and you get the ever growing Team Venture guild as we know it, well, almost.
It was at the end of Wrath. There were really only 4 active level 80s that played in the guild, all real life friends having a blast. We pugged in our 5th to run dungeons always when one fateful day we took Zahvorn for a few runs. The Venture Brothers decided that the hunter was cool, laid back, and fit well with our style of play (be serious if we want to then have the healer face pull to see if the tank can react fast enough). Then the magic words were said:
“Do you guys need a hunter in the guild?”
Planets aligned, Zahvorn became a guild member and it was magic. OK, this is a story people, enjoy. Z had real life friends of his own that played the game and as he played more with the guild he started to introduce us to them, and they too soon became guild members. (Shout out to Dark Hour inserted here because without them, we would never have the awesome team that we do now.)
At this point there still wasn’t enough for 10 man content which is what we wanted to do. Enter in McLovin, Heiliger, and Kashim. They so totally rock and have brought nothing but sick dps, mad skills, and more good laughs to the team.
That’s where we are now. There are always a few friends that try out the game. Some level to 80 in a month, others log on every now and then. We are always happy when we can share the fun times we have in wow with people we see in the “real world” and look forward to the day when we suck in enough of them for 25 mans.
