Wednesday LEEEROOOY!!!

Shout out to Danewort, Heiliger, Darthaniel, Selvain and myself for finally getting the “Jenkins” title.  Dash came too, but he already had it.  I will say we killed a few 50 extra just to be sure.  Check out the pic added to the gallery.

Raid 1 shots everything, Deathmode unlocked

Ok, so on a dark and stormy (in some timezones) evening, the members of Team Venture gathered for a Tuesday night raid.

Behold my followers. I have set forth a goal for this eve.  We shall forge ahead in the Citadel of Icecrown and parry with those bosses that dwell within up to the monster which they call Rotface.- Our fearless tank, Danewort said.

I have to say Kliz actually snickered at that.  Two hours, 6 bosses?  I was a LITTLE skeptical too, considering we’re pretty casual, like to take our time through instances etc.  We did go straight to ICC and skipped the weekly for now, which helped, but still. Which is why it was SO TOTALLY AWESOME when we ONE SHOT the first 6 bosses in ICC.  That’s right, what are you going to do about it?  Cry on the floor like a kid with skinned knees and a dirty lollipop?  What? That’s right, go run crying to the Linch King, he can’t help you now!

Seriously, we are good.  Special shout outs to the two tanks- Danewort and Rekkoning.  They kept us on task.  Kliz your getting up there on dps, McLovin beware!  Props to Nathaniel- I can no longer laugh as you stand in death and decay because you’re LEET.  Finally, GWENDE made an appearance and Beat Saurfang, Festergut and Rotface for the first time yesterday.  It was adorable having our two gnomes (Gwen and Heiliger) running around with pink hair. Kashim too made it to the raid, now that real life’s not in the way, and Dash, as always, nice to have you and your shadow around.

We get loads of tries at the Prof. this weekend and can maybe even try the blood princes?  Malygos (sp?) is also on the list for Darthaniel, no matter what Danewort has told you.

Don’t forget!  Add name suggestions to the post about Heiliger!  Come on people!  There are so many possibilities, I just don’t have enough character slots for them all.

Raid weekend: Godzilla is a Japanese rendition of chuck Norris’ first visit to Tokyo.

Hey all, the Chuck Norris joke is actually a throw back to last week’s guild raids but I have finally gotten around to posting them on the Quotes page.  There were definitely some good ones not written down, because once they started, ventrillo sounded like Barrens chat three years ago.

Raiding this week was pretty low key.  Tuesday night we nailed Sarth no problems at all and moved on to ICC.  We knocked down the first 2 bosses per Dmitrious’ request but didn’t get the ideal drops.  Maybe next time.  There were a few more upgrades on Friday night. (Noticeably my Wrists of Septic Shock).  That does mean we took down Festergut, but not Rotface.  It got pretty late and we spent some of our time doing the weekly quest in ICC (the one where you get the orange and green blight on the same person. Now that was a new twist to the evening.  Thank goodness for our awesome team work! Go team venture! I believe Dashifen or McLovin ended up with both).

Our goal is still to move forward and snag the Professor one of these weekends.  We didn’t get together on Saturday or Sunday (as far as I know, but I was working nights again) so we didn’t have a ton of time to progress.  We seem to need a little fine tuning when it comes to getting through Rotface quickly.

Hopefully the long weekend went well for everyone and there was time to recover by the workday on Tuesday.  Hopefully we will have forums up soon as I still need that three mile island recipe (I know it’s there just can’t see it) and had a new idea to start a Wish List thread to let other people know what characters need in the way of gems, enchants, flasks, potions, bags, belt buckles, and crafted gear. Like the idea?

ICC Buff Increased!

If you’re coming to the raid tonight, Varian Wrynn’s very presence has once again increased our effectiveness by another 5% just for showing up.  MMO-Champion (and soon, every other site about WoW in the known universe) is reporting that we’re all getting 20% from the buff starting tonight!

Guild Raid 5/22: Prof. Sauro-Rot-gutface

So we raided for real on Saturday night.  We knocked down Saurofang like a school-yard bully taking milk money from a first grade girlscout.  Unfortunately, there was several deaths by the ICC frogger– I haven’t mentioned it, but the white clouds of gas are NOT your friend.  Actually, the several deaths were from the same person: I am looking your way Dmitrious.

We one-shoted festergut with 2 heals, yup finally got that mechanic down.  Rotface gave us some trouble, but nothing our fearless tanks Danewort and Rekkoning (Mr. D/c though to no fault of his own) can’t handle.  Special shout outs to: Kliz, Darthaniel, Dashifen, Heiliger, McLovin, Dmitrious, and Dorthur.  We tried in vain to foil the Professor’s evil schemes.  There is something about the oozes that just defeats–I think it’s because I wanted one as a pet for so long.

To end I’ll leave you with a list.  We are pretty good about making lists during graveyards runs. The title is: Name Rekkoning’s Blood Elf Alter Ego:

Puffin, McFairy Pants, Boy Josh (like Boy George), Just name Bruce–he is a hair dresser, Ramone, Lance, Lance Longstride.

What happened to Friday Raid night?

So on Tuesday we were lucky enough to do the weekly raid (Razorscale) and the first 3 bosses of ICC.  It was super fun and there was an assignment given- bring your favorite Chuck Norris joke to the raid on Friday.  Sadly, the raid of ICC didn’t happen tonight.  The Chuck Norris jokes were brought with reckless abandon, they will be posted in the quotes page as soon as I can find the energy.

So what happened to the raid?  I’ll tell you, but you have to promise you didn’t hear it from me and that the words weren’t really spoken…****pvp****.  There was a bit of let down after the S&M run and McLovin and myself took down Tauren Mill only to be taken down by a horde druid.  In my defense I was cat spec’d and don’t know how to properly dps in that form let alone pvp.  So, while trying to figure out what to do with 7 players, we saved Dmitrious’s lock from griefers near Goldshire and it came up that we were at Tauren mill the other night.  Darth and Dmitrious ran over there soon we were all heading to Southshore to do some ******pvp******.  What a blast.  We had a good showing of horde too- 5 or 6 (not at the same time) rolled through, with several (10?) low levels that just stood and stared, and laughed. Thanks to the non guildies that heard about it and joined in to help.  We had a good time, learned to stick together (well maybe) and all thank Heiliger for the food and port. We need to figure out how to get on the roof.

If Rekkoning asks though, we did no such thing involving those blasphemous letters.

Apologies and a new idea

My deepest, though likely not sincerest, apologies to those men who have recently been misrepresented in the quotes section of the website.  While learning about the newest guild member misquoted this evening I realized- while we are having one of the many laughing fits in the vent channel and I am trying to heal and write down the funny thing that started it off, all male voices sound alike.  I told my fellow dungeon runners (Astenceli, Dashifen, and Dmitrious) just that.  They said it was sexist. And my response to that was “you’ll just have to deal with it”.  Ahhh I love running randoms with guildies.  The conversation turned into a great new idea-  who can spot all of the errors that Jane puts on the website.  It makes me want to throw a few things in to see if it would work.  Maybe a secrete code?  Oh the possibilities. Happy Monday all, Can’t wait for the raid tomorrow!

May 14,15 ICC raids

Hey All, what a fun weekend.  We had some pretty fun times in ICC.  First Friday we did the weekly (somewhere in Nax, isn’t that bad I can’t remember now?) and moved on to the big castle in the north.  Major props to Dmitrious for being the co-tank of the evening.  It was his first time in that role in ICC10 and we kicked butt and took names on the first 3 bosses.  Did you know on the gunship you can use the rocket pack mid air and change directions?  IT”S SUPER FUN and you should try it.  If only our fearless leader would just give us a little more time to play…

Saturday night Rekkoning was back with a vengeance, but due to some weather issues didn’t have the greatest connection.  He held aggro even after being DC’d at one point.  Now that’s impressive (and to give Danewort props he too has held aggro even after being DC’d).  We hit up Saurfang and Festergut (affectionately known as Rotgutface).  Darthaniel rocked out the healing on his new computer (WOOT) and he and I two healed Festergut.  It was a satisfying feeling.  Did I mention he rocked out healing?

Festergut’s twin is giving us some trouble.  I don’t think the dc’s and the late hour were helping but we just couldn’t seem to push through.  Maybe this week.  There is a weekday raid planed on TUESDAY so sign up and maybe we’ll have the lower floor cleared before the weekend so we can start early and often on the big guys.

Don’t forget to start saving names…Darthaniel has some good ones and the ideas I’ve heard thrown out are pretty impressive.  Big shout out to Ydain who has been playing  more and another to Akumasama for hoping over to Northrend for the first time.  That’s all for now, happy weekend!

Gnomish Mage with a Mid-life Crisis

Heiliger, our illustrious mage is turning 30 soon (Happy Birthday).  Now when a young gnome becomes an adult gnome at 30 there is a tradition that is upheld throughout the community.  The rite of the Changing of the Name is one that is revered in gnomish culture and represents the gnome venturing out to be his own gnome.

Some more information on the Lore: Gnome parents name their children at birth. Gnomes have family names that represent an honored ancestor’s achievements, but they only keep these names until some time in their thirties. At this point, gnome society expects them to have made their own achievements, and thus the gnome invents a new name that represents his own accomplishments. This name then takes the place of his family name

So what do the members of Team Venture have to do with this?  Well, you all know Heiliger well and it’s now your chance to suggest his new name.

Here’s what you have to do:

1. Think of a name, one that would be worth the honor and respect that Heiliger deserves

2. Create a level 1 character on Thrall and save the name to be sure it’s available.

3. Leave a comment to this page describing your name, and a reason why you chose it.

4. Heiliger will pick the top three essays and they will be posted for a poll at a later date.

Another Calendar Improvement

Your friendly neighborhood web master here once again.  I’ve updated the calendar so that it can be printed in any timezone you want (rather than specifically server-time for Thrall-US).  It’ll default to the Eastern timezone (just like Thrall) but if you prefer to print it in a different timezone, you can go to your profile and select a different timezone for it.

Check it out and let me know if you run into any problems!
